Kaitiakitanga

One of our school values is 'Kaitiakitanga'. This means that we are guardians of the environment. We try to care for living creatures and this week Tamsin saved a bird that she found in our classroom. The bird seemed exhausted and hurt and, at first, it would not fly off. It was a magical moment when it flew free. Great Kaitiakitanga!

  7. Kia ora Ruma 16 and Kaitiaki super star Tamsin! Thank you for rescuing the bird and setting it free again. This reminds me of a time when a bird flew into our school hall, it would fly into the windows trying to escape. After a little coaxing, it finally flew out the hall door. Your actions are Wanawana (inspiring). Thank you for sharing and keep being kind! Ka kite from Miss Mills

  10. Hi my name is Marcella,
I love animals and think that you are a very good guardian of the environment. That bird reminds me of a bird my cat chased into my house. It was very tired and scared.Me and my family helped the poor bird. After a little while my Dad set it free in a park and my mum brought my cat a collar with a bell. Your act was inspiring.
Thank you for sharing and keep being kind!
