Junky Monkeys!

We had a lucky visit from 'Junky Monkeys' last week. It was great fun to explore 'loose parts play' with all the junk parts they brought along. This type of open-ended play is fantastic for our imagination and creativity. It encourages us to think about various different possibilities, to problem solve, to work together with others, to communicate, and to think about how risky our play might be. It also helps us to think about sustainability, Kaitiakitanga and how we can reduce, reuse and recycle waste. Also, it was FUN!

Would you like us to set up our own 'Junky Monkeys' play shed here at school?

Leave a comment below telling us what you think and you never know what could happen!

Samoan Language Week

Talofa lava! This week we celebrated the 'Gagana Samoa' - the Samoan language and 'Fa'a Samoa' - the Samoan way. We were very lucky to have one of our teachers, Faye, come to class and share things from the Samoan culture. We have been learning Samoan words using this website:  https://www.digitaldialects.com/Samoan.htm  Have a go at home!

During Reading, Kirat found the special chief's necklace made with painted seeds that Faye showed us (in the first photo).
