Term 4 Green Week

Our focus for term 4 Green Week was insects. It was perfect that a bee swarm appeared in the tree outside our window! At first we were worried, but then we began to study bees. We learned that at the time when a queen bee leaves to make a new hive, the bees that are going with her fill up on honey. They are usually very calm at this stage. We learned so many interesting facts about these amazing little creatures and displayed them in the class. 🌺🐝🌻🐝🌼🐝

Garden To Table

We have had a great term at Garden To Table. It is one of our favourite things at Owairaka.
We work hard in the garden and in the kitchen. We love working together to produce a meal and we love sharing it!

Athletics certificate winners

Well done to Kyros, Persaies, Aundreah and Seraphina who received certificates for placing in our recent athletics events.
Well done to everyone for having a go and participating on the day. You were ALL amazing!

Our new focus at school is 'Be Organised'. Room 16 developed and presented some ideas about how we can do this in assembly today. At home, talk about how you can be organised and how that makes a positive difference to your learning. Owairaka Primary School - 'Growing Great Learners'

New Duffy books!

It was great to receive our new books from The Duffy Foundation recently. Two books each to keep! It's always exciting and each time we get our Duffy books we are inspired to read, read, read! 🖒🖒🖒

Calendar Art

We have been working hard in room 16 to produce some cool artwork. This artwork will be available soon to purchase as a 2018 calendar, diary or as a pack of greeting cards. They are professionally done and make excellent gifts for friends and family. We are very proud of our efforts!  Take a look at your child's artwork and keep an eye out for information about how to purchase coming home soon.

Green Day

Each term at Owairaka we have a 'green week' focusing on caring for the environment. We always have a 'green day' where we all dress in green too. Check us out!

☺📖 Book week fun 📖😊

We had loads of fun during book week! There were things happening every day at school. Room 16 did our own '50 book challenge' where we each read 50 books during the week and recorded the titles. Some of us even read 100 books! Find yourself in the photos and tell someone what you were doing. Keep reading room 16!
