Toward the end of term one we enjoyed two fantastic days of education outside the classroom. One day was held at school doing orienteering using compasses, a nature scavenger hunt and using ropes and sticks to make swings. The other day we went on an adventure up Owairaka maunga (Mt. Albert). We explored the mountain, worked together to complete teamwork challenges, pitched tents and did an exciting Burma trail. As you can see from the photos, the weather was great too. 🌞

ANZAC Day 25th April.
This year ANZAC Day fell in the school holidays. We did some interesting learning about the day and the history before the term ended. On the last day of school we held a special memorial ceremony at out school memorial site. We can be proud of our ANZAC history and of the way we showed genuine respect. Ka pai too Manaakitanga Puriri.
Remember our ANZACS on April 25th. Lest we forget.
Yay! Duffy books! 📚📚📚
Just before the holidays we had a special assembly and every class took along their specially decorated box full of free books from Duffy! We had been looking forward to this! It was super exciting to open our box and dive straight in to our books. Now we all have some cool new books to read in the holidays.
Remember to keep reading guys and definitely get those ⛤holiday reading logs⛤ finished. 🏁🖒✔☺

CULTURAL UNITY DAY!
Hooray! Cultural Unity Day is one of our favourite days at Owairaka. We all dress up in cultural clothes and celebrate all the many cultures we have at our school. It is great to see the colourful costumes and even better to learn more about different cultures. Well done everyone for dressing up and getting involved!
