More water safety
We enjoyed our water safety and swimming lessons at the Mt Albert wave pools so much.
Our instructors were so helpful and had some exciting lessons for us.
Some lessons even included wearing life jackets and using a boat in the pool!

Technology
Our topic focus for term three is technology. We are looking at how things are designed and why they are designed that way. We will identify problems and design ways to solve those problems. We are looking at ways we could improve the design of certain things. We began by investigating how we could design a stronger structure using drinking straws and blue-tack. Great concentration room sixteen!

Maths Week
This week is maths week at schools all across New Zealand. It's a great chance to talk about all the maths that is part of our everyday lives. At home try measuring different things such as length, weight, time and liquids. Visit the maths week website www.mathsweek.co.nz which has interactive learning activities plus a family section to enjoy together.

Science + maths = cars + ramps
We did a cool investigation in class recently involving toy cars and ramps. We had been learning about forces in science - about gravity and friction. We decided to use cars, ramps and weights to investigate whether adding weight to the cars would effect the distance they would travel after leaving the ramp. This led to lots of predicting and measuring. We measured weight as we added 50 gram weights to the cars. We measured distance in centimeters using long rulers. We learned about keeping some parts of the investigation the same while we changed other parts. We learned that it was important to take more than one measurement and then find the average. Science + maths + cars + ramps = fun learning!

Swimming lessons!
Today was our first swimming lesson at the Mt Albert wave pool. We were so excited! We had lessons with instructors and some time to practice in the big pool. We even got to go on the hydro-slide. It was so cool and we can't wait to go back. Remember to be organised with your swimming bag on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
