Science Science Science

Can't get enough of that science!

The control test

Just as well, because it's everywhere!

Milk, food colouring...

...no change

Just add dish washing liquid

Science!
The dish washing liquid attracts the water molecules and repels the fat molecules
within the milk.
The food colouring allows us to observe the movement that results.
Try it!

More chemical reactions!
Baking soda...

Add vinegar...

Eureka!

Thanks Sam.

Tornado in a bottle

The liquid appears to defy gravity
until a vortex of air is created

Science Week - WOW !!!

Wow! Science came to life all over the school during 'Science Week'.

In room 16 we blew our minds with the science that surrounds us everyday. We have been bubbling and fizzing with science excitement and have ignited science sparks within ourselves. Check out the photos of our learning.

We will continue to focus on science throughout term two so keep checking our blog.

Science is awesome!

Check it out! Wooden skewers poked right into a balloon!
Whoah!

Way cool science!

We investigated pressure, tension and the elasticity of polymers during this experiment.
We learned about molecules and had a lot of fun!

Ridha demonstrates how water can create a suction effect. Cool!

Yes there really is water in the bucket! Go Romena

We'd love to see Sam get wet...but science was on his side.

Navneet got a few drops on him. But only a few.

Now that just looks weird Kyle!

Beans help room 16 keep it green!

Some time ago we planted some giant green and giant purple beans in the planter box outside our classroom (first photo).

Since then, thanks to our nurturing care, the plants are lush and healthy.

We love the way they wrap and curl around the garden stakes as they climb.

We've recently added some climbing snow-peas and can't wait to see them grow!

Measurement in Mathematics

Our recent focus in mathematics has been measurement.

We have investigated the areas of  length, mass, capacity and time.
It has been an enjoyable area of learning, putting maths into 'real-life' contexts.
Here are a few pictures of  us investigating square meters and mass.
